Amazon Time Sync with microsecond-accurate time is available starting today in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) Region on all R7g instances, and we will be expanding support to additional AWS Regions and EC2 Instance types.
Starting today, Amazon EC2 High Memory instances with 3TiB (u-3tb1.56xlarge), 6TiB (u-6tb1.56xlarge, u-6tb1.112xlarge), 9TiB (u-9tb1.112xlarge), and 12TiB of memory (u-12tb1.112xlarge) are available in Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region. Customers can start using these new High Memory instances with On Demand and Savings Plan purchase options.
After you do this, you can launch Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances, create Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) volumes, and make use of other services including Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), and Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC). The new Local Zones include T3, C5, M5, R5, and G4dn instances in select sizes, along with General Purpose SSD (gp2) EBS volumes.
The Asia Pacific (Osaka) Region supports the C5, C5d, D2, I3, I3en, M5, M5d, R5d, and T3 instance types, in On-Demand, Spot, and Reserved Instance form. X1 and X1e instances are available in a single AZ.
Today, we are excited to announce that, due to high customer demand for additional services in Osaka, the Osaka Local Region will be expanded into a full AWS Region with three Availability Zones by early 2021.
Amazon CloudFront announces ten new Edge locations, adding to our global presence. Eight of the new Edge locations are in North America: Houston, Texas (our first location in this city), Chicago, Illinois, Newark, New Jersey, Los Angeles, California, and Ashburn, Virginia. We also added an Edge location in Berlin, Germany, as well as one in Tokyo, Japan.
With this launch, CloudFront will increase its request processing capacity by up to 40%, on average, in the North American cities.
Effective September 1, 2018 we are reducing prices for data transfer from Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), and Amazon CloudFront by up to 34% in Japan and 28% in Australia.
