Linux AMI:Amazon Linux 2

Amazon Linux 2 will offer extended availability of software updates for the core operating system through 5 years of long-term support and provides access to the latest software packages through the Amazon Linux Extras repository.

Amazon Linux 2 provides a modern execution environment with LTS Kernel (4.9) tuned for optimal performance on Amazon Web Services (AWS), systemd support, and newer tooling (gcc 7.2.1, glibc 2.25, binutils 2.27).

Amazon EC2 的 CRI (Convertible Reserved Instance) 支援一年的合約了:「EC2 Convertible Reserved Instance Update – New 1-Year CRI, Merges & Splits」,這樣彈性再多了一些:

Today we are introducing Convertible RIs with a 1-year term, complementing the existing 3-year term.

推出啦:「Node v8.9.0 (LTS)」,另外可以看「NEWS: Node.js 8 Moves into Long-Term Support and Node.js 9 Becomes the New Current Release Line」這篇。

Certain feature releases will be designated as long-term support (LTS) releases. These releases will get security and data loss fixes applied for a guaranteed period of time, typically three years.

The Terms of Service add, "The laws of the State of California will govern this Statement, as well as any claim that might arise between you and us, without regard to conflict of law provisions.”

The appeals court agreed that Facebook’s Terms of Service were “abusive” and "violated French consumer law by making it difficult for people in France to sue,” according to the BBC.

引用的 BBC 報導可以在「Paris court rules against Facebook in French nudity case」這邊看到:

The Paris high court decided that the company's argument was "abusive" and violated French consumer law, by making it difficult for people in France to sue.

Node.js 的 LTS 計畫

Node.js 在 4.0 開始啟動 LTS (Long Term Support) 計畫:「Node v4.0.0 (Stable)」。

In parallel, we will be branching a new Stable line of releases every 6 months, one in October and one in April each year.

This means that there will be overlapping LTS branches being maintained throughout the year, each receiving attention for a total of 30 months (LTS plus Maintenance).

Slashdot 的「New Compilation of Banned Chinese Search-Terms Reveals Curiosities」這篇引用了「Some curious search terms denied to the Chinese」這篇文章,在 GitHub 上面有個 repository 試著蒐集這些關鍵字:「jasonqng/chinese-keywords

相較於 Ubuntu 的五年 LTS (Long Term Support),HHVM 的 LTS 只有 48 周:「HHVM Long Term Support」。

在新版的「Terms of Use」裡面,有一個專門的章節「Paid contributions without disclosure」:

These Terms of Use prohibit engaging in deceptive activities, including misrepresentation of affiliation, impersonation, and fraud. As part of these obligations, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. You must make that disclosure in at least one of the following ways:

  • a statement on your user page,
  • a statement on the talk page accompanying any paid contributions, or
  • a statement in the edit summary accompanying any paid contributions.

這段修正可以從「Difference between revisions of "Terms of Use" - Wikimedia Foundation」這邊看到完整的 diff。
