IDA 免費版

Update：被 comment 提醒，找了一下資料，看起來有段歷史了，所以說 RetDec 的影響就未必是這樣了。下面的文章內容就不修正了...：「IDA Support: Evaluation Version」。

IDA 居然也提供免費版了，雖然是比較舊的版本，而且不提供技術支援：「IDA Support: Freeware Version」。IDA 是個可以反組譯以及當 debugger 的工具：

IDA is a Windows, Linux or Mac OS X hosted multi-processor disassembler and debugger that offers so many features it is hard to describe them all. Just grab an evaluation version if you want a test drive.

我猜是 Avast 放出 MIT 授權版本的 RetDec 的關係 (參考「Avast 放出他們的 Decompiler，RetDec」這篇)，導致 IDA 這邊要做一些動作推廣試用...

不過我覺得有了 open source 的工具後，會看到 open source 工具慢慢成長...

歐洲議會嘗試撥款支援 Open Source Software 的 Bug Bounty 計畫

在 Hacker News 上看到歐盟議會試著以 Bug Bounty 計畫支援 Open Source Software 的消息。這次看到的是 VLC：「VLC: Bug Bounty Program - Get Rewards through HackerOne」。

The European Parliament has approved budget to improve the EU’s IT infrastructure by extending the free software security audit programme (FOSSA) and by including a bug bounty approach in the programme.

這還蠻特別的... 由官方經費贊助 open source 的計畫，除了 VLC 外，重點會在成效以及後續還有哪些被贊助。

AWS CodeBuild 可以管 Secret 了...

AWS CodeBuild 可以管理 secret 了：「AWS CodeBuild Now Provides Ability To Manage Secrets」。

AWS CodeBuild now further enhances securing your build environment. CodeBuild can now store sensitive information as secrets, which can now get directly passed to your build jobs. This can be achieved by modifying the parameter store directly in your buildspec.yml, or via the CodeBuild console.

在文件裡提到：

We strongly discourage using environment variables to store sensitive values, especially AWS access key IDs and secret access keys. Environment variables can be displayed in plain text using tools such as the AWS CodeBuild console and the AWS CLI. For sensitive values, we recommend you use the parameter-store mapping instead, as described later in this section.

這次算是補上其他家已經有蠻久的功能...

不過在找資料的時候，發現 AWS CodeBuild 提供了每個月一百分鐘的 free quota，不論是新帳號還是現有帳號都一直有？(這點是之前沒注意到的...)

The AWS CodeBuild free tier includes 100 build minutes of build.general1.small per month. The CodeBuild free tier does not expire automatically at the end of your 12-month AWS Free Tier term. It is available to new and existing AWS customers.

Google 推出的 PhotoScan，利用多張照片去除反光

Google 推出的 PhotoScan (Android、iOS) 可以利用多次不同角度的拍攝來消除反光：「PhotoScan: Taking Glare-Free Pictures of Pictures」。

Google Cloud Platform 的終身免費方案

Google 在這次 Google Cloud Next '17 公佈了 Google Cloud Platform Free Tier 的 Always Free Usage Limits，也就是終身免費的方案。

這次宣佈的包括了許多服務。掃了一遍應該會去玩 GCE 的部份，包括了 0.6GB RAM 的機器以及 1GB 的對外流量 (不過到中國與澳洲要另外計費，不包含在這個範圍內)。

領先者的 AWS 不知道會不會也跟進...

電信商對 Zero Rating 與網路中立性的問題

在「AT&T users will be able to stream DirecTV Now without using their data」這邊才看到 FCC 在這個月月初針對電信商對特定服務的 zero rating 發出警告：「The FCC tells AT&T it may be violating net neutrality with its DirecTV plans」：

AT&T is far from the only US carrier to zero rate data. T-Mobile has been ostentatiously offering free data for music and movies for a year now, and Verizon also zero rates video from its Go90 app. But in zero rating DirecTV, the FCC thinks AT&T may have gone too far.

AT&T 說任何人只要付錢都可以參加這個 plan：

AT&T’s argument is that any company that participates in its Sponsored Data program has to pay AT&T for it, and that includes DirecTV.

但問題還是在 AT&T 擁有 DirecTV，所以是左手付到右手：

Except, again, AT&T owns DirecTV, so even if one division is paying another, the overall company still ends up not paying any money.

而且這筆金額其實不小：

The situation for other companies is very different — and the FCC believes that the price they’d have to pay is “significant[.]”

不過總統快換人了，很有可能會往更糟的方向前進...

印度的免費 4G...

印度最富有的企業家決定提供免費的 4G 網路讓更多人可以上網：「India's richest man offers free 4G to one billion people」：

India's richest man is rolling out a $20 billion mobile network that could bring lightning-fast Internet to hundreds of millions of people.

到 2016 年底：

Indians will be able to use Jio for free until the end of 2016, and pay as little as 149 rupees ($2.25) a month for data after that.

Libreboot 成功的讓 FreeBSD/OpenBSD 開機

Libreboot 是一個 open source 版本的 BIOS/UEFI 替代品：

Libreboot is a free BIOS or UEFI replacement (free as in freedom); libre boot firmware that initializes the hardware and starts a bootloader for your operating system.

而最近的版本則是順利的在沒有修改作業系統來配合 Libreboot 的情況下將 FreeBSD 與 OpenBSD (不過是 kOpenBSD) 開起來了：「Re: [Libreboot] GNU Libreboot, version 20160818 released」。

O'Reilly 放出一大包的 Free Data Report Archive

O'Reilly 放出了一大包的資料：「O'Reilly Media - Free Data Report Archive」。

看起來是報告形式，2015 的資料比較多，2014/2013/2012 的比較少... 看起來有不少圖表，之後要做投影片時也許可以拿來用 (還沒看 license)。

Springer 免費提供的數學書 (PDF)

在 Hacker News Daily 上看到有人在 Gist 上把 Springer 提供的數學類 PDF 書籍整理出來 (Direct links to free Springer maths books (pdf versions))，查了一下好像是「Springer launches full book download feature」的一環？：

其中重複的書名連結表示有多個版本供下載。裡面有很多經典的書籍啊，以前上課的時候都翻過？
