LinkedIn 用機器學習提供雇主可能的職缺對象

先前看到「Learning Hiring Preferences: The AI Behind LinkedIn Jobs」這篇，LinkedIn 用機器學習提供雇主可能的對象。

依照官方的說法，這次提到的改進是透過雇主的行為調整推薦。當雇主對某個人有興趣的時候，LinkedIn 就會調整演算法去配合雇主有興趣的條件：

Based on how you interact with candidates, our algorithm learns your preferences and delivers increasingly relevant candidates across the Jobs product. If you’re consistently interested in candidates who are, say, accountants with leadership skills, or project managers who are adept at social media, we’ll send you more of those. And this all happens online in real time so that your feedback is taken instantly into account.

透過模擬 20% 的加成：

This new algorithm, which is used throughout the Jobs platform, performs nearly 20% better than the previous version in generating recommendations when we simulate our members' past hiring activity.

在 social network 這種演算法其實就是同溫層 (Echo chamber、Filter bubble)，在 LinkedIn 這樣的行為不知道會不會牽扯到 Discrimination 的議題...

Hacker News 的潛規則

在「A List of Hacker News's Undocumented Features and Behaviors」這邊列了不少 Hacker News 的潛規則，看過後其實比較重要的是「當你需要自己實做一個類似的系統時，有哪些歷史教訓是人家已經走過的」。

像是 Anti-Voting Manipulation 與 Flame-War Detector 都是蠻常見的情境，Shadowbanning 則是防治廣告機制中比較軟性的一環。Green Usernames 也算是軟性的機制...

另外產品面上，Hacker News 也設計一些常見的 list 讓使用者除了首頁以外的選擇。

OnePlus OxygenOS 內建的 Malware

看到「OnePlus OxygenOS built-in analytics」這篇，講作者在聽連線時看到 OnePlus OxygenOS 內建的 Malware：

從維基百科上的說明好像不怎麼意外啊：

一加（全稱：深圳市萬普拉斯科技有限公司，英語：OnePlus）是中國一家行動通訊終端裝置研製與軟體開發的企業，於2013年12月7日成立，主要開拓國外市場。

Homebrew 會將安裝資訊送到 Google Analytics 上

在 Hacker News Daily 上看到 Homebrew 會將安裝資訊送到 Google Analytics 上面：「Homebrew's Anonymous Aggregate User Behaviour Analytics」。

opt-out 的方法有兩個，一個是環境變數，另外一個是透過 git 設定：

If after everything you've read you still wish to opt-out of Homebrew's analytics you may set HOMEBREW_NO_ANALYTICS=1 in your environment or run git config --file="$(brew --repository)/.git/config" --replace-all homebrew.analyticsdisabled true which will prevent analytics from ever being sent when either of them have been set.
